Stephanie C. Harper is a certified human resources professional with over 30 years of experience. She is a multi- published author, speaker, influencer and deemed a subject matter expert.
How are you involved with the Polk Institute?
I currently serve as the Chief Human Resources Officer of the Polk Institute.
Please tell us one of your best success stories.
One of my best success stories is using a personal situation of being laid off in the early 2000’s to change my life and career while doing the same for others. I wrote the book Why Should I Hire You? As a response to employers who wouldn’t hire me citing I was “overqualified”. The book became a movement, a means of income, established my authority in the industry and helped me on secure space on platforms like the Steve Harvey TV Show, the Wall Street Journal and I became an Employment Expert for 2 radio stations. One station reached 2.5 million listeners and I was able to help them get their careers (and lives on track). So my life after layoff story is amazing!
What is your top benefit of being with the Polk Institute?
It’s always beneficial to be a part of something that has the ability to empower and enrich the lives of others.
